It was quite fitting that I bought this album on CD from a gas station on I5 driving from LA to St Luis Obispo Theres a story here as I wrote a song called ‘El Camino Real’ or ‘The a Kings Highway’ Anyway this a great psychedelic pop/rock album laced with great tunes and harmonies…
What can I say about this pioneering album…. quite a spooky trip this with some great sparse production. Its not the Electric Prunes you instantly think of along the lines of ‘I had too much to dream last night’ which is kinda garage psychedelic rock. This is finely tuned and orchestrated by David Axelrod with…
I love all the Moody Blues albums but I think this is their finest hour….. written around the time of the Apollo moon landing the album crashes into life with the sound of the rocket taking off then takes you on a trip through delicate and beautiful songs. Sublime harmonies and ethereal English whimsy !…

From the jangle pop rock of Lucifer Sam to the prog instrumental Interstellar overdrive this finds the band at its most creative artistically and lyrically.…

The perfect intro to the original bluesy Beefheart you can just see the cracks appearing in what would become his later wayward style. Here it all seems too straightforward and easy for him. Great news for the listener though!
Psychedelic garage rock pioneer from 1965 (I wrote a song about Roky called ‘Unknown Legend’) this is the first album by the band and again has that sparse production and simplicity that makes it a great rock record along with their famous hit ‘You’re gonna miss me’ which was a top 100 Billboard hit in…
